2. I owned a cheesecake bakery for 12 years and have recently sold it to move back to Rhode Island to be closer to my parents.
3. My brother Andrew (middle name) and I have been coming up with great ideas for invention since we were teens. We’re just normal people who had a lot of help through our uncle who is a patent attorney, now overseas. A few of our ideas were bought out right without a patent (that’s really rare in this day and age), a few were assigned and most of them weren’t qualified. While we thought they were great, most people probably would not, so we never filed anything at all. But, we’ve never stopped.
4. My brother and I are twins. I’m older so the “older sister rule” was always in place as we grew up.
5. When I turned 35 I gave up “Older sister rule” because I didn’t want to bring attention to my age.
6. Abigail (Abby) is part of my hyphenated first name. I don’t know why my parents bothered giving Andrew and I first names since they were never used. I believe my parents, in some way, had a vision of Andrew and I being like Raggedy Ann and Andy. Which is, in itself disturbing.
7. I have red hair.
8. My husbands name is Chris but his last name is not Christopher. (this almost sounds like a Logic Problem in a crossword puzzle book) Christopher is my maiden name which I kept.
9. No, I didn’t marry Chris because my last name was Christopher. I married him because he made a lot of money.
10. I have fairly dark humor
11. My degree is in civil engineering. Except for some intern work, I’ve never worked in that field although I love it. Opportunity arose for me in different ways and I’ve been fortunate to follow opportunity instead of my heart in most cases.
12. It took me 7 years and countless tutors to graduate. The fact that I, a math-ma-phobic would go into Civil engineering is dark humor in itself.
13. Chris and I love to hike. In fact, that’s how we first met. A big group of us were hiking Boiling Park in Georgia. Our girls love hiking too. We just pick a place in the US every once in a while and pack up the dogs and head out to the trails. We’re going up to Vermont this summer. There are some beautiful trails up there. Most are pretty short, but there are a lot of them.
14. I like backpacking food. Some of it is quite good and I’m a fairly picky eater. I actually think all food is overrated. My parents talk about food from the time they get up until the time they finally go to bed. They talk about recipes their neighbors gave them, who in the neighborhood is the best cook, what they’ll make for lunch today or tomorrow.
15. I’m a conservative. But I think both parties are pretty messed up and at the same time, each have good points if they’d only shut up and let each other talk. Most of my friends are liberal. Extremely. This just goes to show, co-existing is easy to do when you care for people.
