Find Investors Now. Find The Right Investor For Your Project

There are lots of places to find investors willing to fund invention ideas. One of the first places to look is right in your business plan software. I talked about Business Plan Pro Premier here and how you need a professional business plan before you worry about where to find investors.

Find Investors Within Business Plan Pro

Business Plan Pro Premier has an entire searchable database where you can find investors and the industries they like to invest in. You’ll learn a lot more about them as well. There’s not a place on the internet which will give you a bigger database and it’s included in Business Plan Pro Premier as part of the software.

Look Locally For Investors

Take a look at the patent assistance page I’ve created for you. It shows you the search terms to use to find local investors through clubs, meet-ups, and other places.

Find Investors In Trade Shops

Talk to the companies that will help put together your prototype (metal, welding, plastic, molding…) Many times these companies will invest in inventions in return for a royalty.

The bottom line is, you can find investors most anywhere as long as you know what type of person or company suits your idea best. This is the number one reason I always suggest inventors should have a copy of Stephen Key’s book, One Simple Idea (at the bottom of this page)

I have a big project and need to find investors. Should I protect my idea first?

How would I find investors and pitch an idea without it being stolen. Is there a way to protect my intellectual property so investors won’t steal the idea? Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hi Peter. It’s very important to protect your invention ideas. I have too little information from you to help much. What I will suggest is to talk read over the how to patent an idea page to see if your situation could be helped by the information provided there. The patent assistance page also has more information on invention ideas and where you can find investors. — Abby

I’m looking for help from invention investors. Any advice?

I’ve applied for patents with 4 ideas so far with the Patent Ease software you suggested to me. I’m now at the prototype and marketing phase. At this point, I’ve exhausted all of my discretionary funds, at least for a month or so. I think it’s best if I find investors who will help me with the prototype and marketing at this point. Do you think it’s a good idea?

Find Investors locally if possible. Are there inventor groups in your area? If so, it’s a good idea to join as many of these as you can and participate. Doing so will give you insight and most importantly, word of mouth referrals for most anything you’ll be doing invention ideas as well as invention investors.

The first thing you’ll need to do before you contact invention investors is get your business plan in order. No one will talk with you if you don’t have one. There are plenty of expensive business plan programs out there, but they’re a bit too extreme for what you need. Business Plan Pro Premier is the best. It’s cheaper on Amazon than anywhere else. Plus, Business Plan Pro has an entire database where you can find investors for your invention.

The second thing: I would never attempt to find investors unless I had a plan of attack. Here are 3 books I strongly advise you to get. They are all fast reads and will benefit you a million times over. These books are goldmines if you’re serious about what you’re doing. Let me know how you did with all of this! I’m sure you’ll do just great. They are in the order of importance I feel is necessary before you try and find investors, however I do suggest all three. Abby

You won’t find the context of the 3 books above anywhere on the internet. They all have different approaches and will fill your brain with so many possibilities you’ll feel you can do just about anything. They are your sure step forward to invention investors.

Royalty Percent from Angel Investors

I’ve invented a product which I filed a provisional patent application for already. Development of the prototype will begin next week. Right now I’m trying to find investors. When I do, what type of royalty should I expect?

I wish I could give you an average percentage. However, this is going to depend widely on the numbers in your business plan. You’ll find investors that will agree to pay from 2-10% of the cost and you’ll find investors that will pay even more. You’ll also find some who aren’t interested. But, each “no” will give you a valuable lesson on how to make your next pitch even better.— Abby
