Patent lawyer fees can be expensive and a lot of would-be inventors would be more eager to get patents on their invention ideas if they knew how to file a patent without the expense of lawyer.
How To File A Patent With A Patent Agent
It’s my opinion that a patent lawyer is paramount for businesses and corporations, however patent agents are much more appropriate for independent investors. Patent agents are able to give inventors more of a personalized service, know how to file a patent and can do most most anything a patent lawyer does with the exception of representation in court.
If using a patent agent, understand while their fees will be lower than a patent attorney, there’s nothing they can do about the fees the USPTO will charge. They not only know how to file a patent, most offer patent search options as well as many have access to artist who can draw the patent if needed.
The process with a patent agent and patent attorney will be very similar however some inventors feel, as I said, that they get a more personalized service with the agent.
How To File A Patent On Your Own
While I am an advocate of using a professional for many parts of the patent process, some people choose to file the patent on their own. I’ve created a report on How To Patent An Idea In 11 Steps which will help guide you through the process.
There are some books on that page you’ll want to use as reference. On that page, I’ve given you the bare basics of the books I would use and I explain why you should use them. The information in those books won’t be found anywhere on the internet and the only other way to capitalize on that information is to either check out the books from your library if they have them or buy them. However, I promise they are are extremely inexpensive.
Good luck with your great ideas!
